Risk factors for chronic graft dysfunction in 918 renal transplants.

چکیده
CHRONIC rejection or chronic allograft dysfunction (CD) persists as one of the most prevalent causes of long-term kidney graft loss. As a consequence, the longterm survival and half-life of grafts remains poor, despite optimistic results from a recent publication. Chronic allograft dysfunction is a process of gradual destruction of the kidney graft, dominated by progressive vascular obliteration and other structural changes resulting in fibrosis. The evolution to CD is caused by two types of factors: nonimmunologic and immunologic. The aim of this study was to investigate the incidence, causes, and effects of CD among a series of 918 renal transplants.

Risk factors of long-term graft loss in renal transplant recipients with chronic allograft dysfunction.
OBJECTIVES Graft loss owing to chronic allograft dysfunction is a major concern in renal transplant recipients. We assessed the affect of immune and nonimmune risk factors on death-censored graft loss in renal transplant recipients with chronic allograft dysfunction. MATERIALS AND METHODS We performed a retrospective, single-center study on 214 renal transplant recipients with chronic allogra...

Background & Aim: Previously, patients with end stage renal failure(ESRF) and lower urinary tract abnormality(LUTA) were often considered high risk for renal transplantation. In order to examine the degree of risk, 48 patients who received renal transplants in Labafi Nejad Hospital were evaluated between 1986 and 2003. Patients & Method: In this retrospective cohort study, the mean age of t...
متن کاملRisk factors for acute rejection in 806 cyclosporine-treated renal transplants: a multivariate analysis.
IT is known that acute rejection (AR) is responsible for serious graft injury, causing parenchymal deterioration that can end in early graft failure or in long-term development of chronic dysfunction. Both mechanisms contribute negatively to graft survival. The aim of this study was to investigate the incidence, the causes, and the effects of AR on the outcome of transplants under cyclosporine ...
متن کاملChronic Renal Transplant Rejection and Possible Anti-Proliferative Drug Targets
The global prevalence of renal transplants is increasing with time, and renal transplantation is the only definite treatment for end-stage renal disease. We have limited the acute and late acute rejection of kidney allografts, but the long-term survival of renal tissues still remains a difficult and unanswered question as most of the renal transplants undergo failure within a decade of their tr...
متن کاملRenal transplantation 2004: where do we stand today?
In spite of considerable progress in immunosuppressive and supportive treatment, numerous problems persist which interfere with the success of renal transplantation. Before transplantation has been performed, factors impacting on outcome include the donor (living vs cadaver, age and HLA system) as well as the recipient (age, immunological reactivity, potential sensitization and duration of dial...
